Winter and Trails
Valgrande-Pajares can be reached from both the Asturian and León sides via the N-630 and the Puerto de Pajares. The VÃa Carisa can be explored on foot or by mountain bike.
The Puerto de Pajares–Campumanes pilgrimage stage of the Camino de El Salvador passes through chestnut and holly forests.
Nature
The Parque Natural de Las Ubiñas-La Mesa encompasses areas of the municipalities of Lena, Quirós, and Teverga. The Valle del MeicÃn lies at the foot of Ubiña in Lena.
The Roman camp of Curriechos/Curriel.los was a seasonal camp and at times had around 1.5 km of active linear fortifications.
Culture and History
The former railway station building in La Cobertoria, Lena, houses the Aula Didáctica del Prerrománico Asturiano de la Cobertoria. It serves as a tourist information centre for Lena and Asturias and comprises four themed areas: an introduction, the Kingdom of Asturias, Asturian architecture, and Santa Cristina de Lena. Multimedia applications provide reconstructions of Santa Cristina de Lena, Santa MarÃa del Naranco, and San Miguel de Lillo.
Santa Cristina de Lena is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The single-nave building has barrel vaults and numerous external buttresses. Before visiting Santa Cristina de Lena, it is recommended that you make contact in advance.
The Los Molinos de Xomezana walking trail leads to the Museo Etnográfico La Panerona, which is managed by local residents. Molino de Sabel is a rabil mill used to remove the grain from the ear and is still in operation.
Festivals
The Fiesta del Corderu takes place on the first Sunday of every July at Prau L.lagüezos. It is classified as a festival of tourist interest and includes a traditional outdoor mass, bagpipers, and dance groups.
The Fiesta de La Flor is celebrated on the Monday after Easter with a procession accompanied by bagpipes and drums. The Festival de la Escanda takes place at the end of August.
