Felechosa: Trails, Culture and Nature
Accommodation in Felechosa
Felechosa is the starting point of the Ruta Las Brañas, a 13.3 km linear mountain hike rated difficult. It begins next to the Ermita de la Virgen de la Antigua and connects the village with Cueves. The route passes through former seasonal pasture settlements with small huts and livestock shelters.

Hiking
The Senda Verde del Foyoso (PR242) also begins in Felechosa and is designed as an easy walking route. It connects Felechosa and El Pino on a round trip of approximately one and a half hours. The destination of the route is the Molín de Peón. Built at the end of the 19th century, the building initially served as a mill and fulling mill, was later converted into a small hydroelectric power station, and today houses a trout breeding and rearing centre operated by the Asociación de Pescadores “El Maravayu”.
Landscape
On the Senda Verde del Foyoso, you cross the Braña River; the path then continues through extensive meadows and the dense deciduous forest of El Foyoso. Another route is the 6.5 km Ruta Foces de El Pino. Due to its damp, stony surface, it is not suitable for bicycles. The sheer limestone walls of the Foces de El Pino display fossils of algae and marine animals that are more than 300 million years old.
Cycling and Rock
The Felechosa variant of the Anillo Ciclista de la Montaña Central runs from Cotobello through El Toral, La Collaona, Conforcos, Llamas, Col.lanzo, Yanos and Pola del Pino to Felechosa. Before reaching the village, the route uses wide mining tracks, traditional paths and paved sections.
The Escuela de escalada de Cuevas offers sport climbing in five sectors. Access is via the AS-112, passing Felechosa, and then continuing for 3 km to the Puente de la Muñeca. Trail running is also documented through a competition held there: Felechosa hosted a long trail of approximately 33 km with 6,600 m of ascent, as well as a 15 km Speed Trail with 1,900 m of ascent.
Culture
During El Carmín in Felechosa, a procession takes place from Barro Baxo to the Ermita de la Virgen de la Antigua, followed by a solemn mass and the puya del ramu. Felechosa is also associated with the traditional musical dance baile a lo suelto.
People from Aller who were born in Felechosa are known as “los de la viga travesá”. It is said that, during the construction of the temple, the neighbours tried to bring a beam through a window. The Los Castiel.los de Felechosa are listed in the Asturian Cultural Heritage Inventory.
