Borşa is home to Pârtia Vârful Știol. This slope is rated as having a medium level of difficulty and is served by a drag lift. A drag lift is a separate type of lift service in which the ascent takes place via a tow on the ground. The Telegondola and Pârtia Olimpică operate daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Visitor passes allow ascent with the facility exclusively to visit the upper area, without ski or snowboard equipment. The slope rating and the operating hours of the facilities are two separate details that can help you organise your winter sports and sightseeing plans.
Mountain trails
A nature trail begins in Stațiunea Borșa at an altitude of 800 m and ends above Lacul Izvorul Bistriței (Lacul Știol) in a dwarf pine thicket at an altitude of 1,800 m. The Complex Turistic Borșa – Cascada Cailor – Șaua Știol – Pasul Prislop mountain hiking trail is a marked tourist mountain trail. The Cascada Cailor – Podu Cailor – valea Cimpoiasa – Borșa Fântâna route is located in Borșa, Maramureş, in Parcul Național Munții Rodnei. The nature trail, the marked mountain hiking trail and the route via Borșa Fântâna therefore constitute three independent trail routes, each with its own names and stops.
Nature
The Piatra Rea scientific nature reserve is part of Parcul Național Munții Rodnei and is known for the numerous edelweiss specimens found there. Cascada Cailor is located on the northern slope of the Munții Rodnei, at an altitude of 1,300 m, and has a total length of 90 m. It is part of the Piatra Rea nature reserve. The easiest way to access Cascada Cailor is by chairlift from the Complexul Turistic Borșa. All seasons are recommended as visiting periods for Cascada Cailor; the greatest volume of water is reached during the snowmelt, around April and May. For planning purposes, the recommended year-round visiting period can be distinguished from the strongest water flow, which occurs around April and May.
When choosing a ski hotel in Borşa, you can consider travel dates, room category and cancellation policies separately. Depending on the time of travel and the desired room category, this creates different points of comparison for planning your accommodation. For your stay in Borşa, you can consider these details alongside the different focuses on winter sports, mountain trails and nature destinations.
