Trails and Views
In Mittelstadt, the Traseul Minier Principal leads to the 730 m-high summit of Dealul Minei, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding area. The Puțul Francisc și Borcut trail leads to the ruins of Puțul Francisc. You can distinguish the two destinations by their character: one trail focuses on elevation and landscape, while the other leads to ruins.
Lakes and Elevations
Lacul Albastru is a national protected area within the administrative territory of the city of Baia Sprie, on the southern slope of Dealul Minei at an elevation of 530 m. The lake formed between 1919 and 1920 through the accumulation of water following the collapse of a mine or surface works. Lacul Albastru changes colour depending on the season: in spring, especially in April and May, it appears blue and turquoise; in summer, emerald green; and in autumn, greenish-brown.
Lacul Bodi lies at an elevation of 731 m at the foot of Vârful Mogoșa, which is also called Muntele Negru. Vârful Igniș reaches 1,307 m and lies on a volcanic plateau with distinctive rock formations as well as bilberry and cranberry bushes. The varying elevations and seasonal colour changes offer two distinct ways of organising observations of nature: by terrain and by season.
