The Cheile Vârghișului is a 4-kilometer-long gorge formed in Jurassic limestone in the Perșani Mountains. The gorge and its caves form an 800-hectare national nature reserve in IUCN Category IV, which overlaps with the Natura 2000 protected area RO SPA 0027 Dealurile Homoroadelor. The Cheile Vârghișului can be reached via the DN13A and then the DJ132, or via the DN12 and then the DJ131.

Nature
The Cheile Bicazului–Hășmaș National Park extends across the counties of Harghita and Neamț. The DN12C crosses the national park and connects Gheorgheni with Bicaz.
Lake Lacul Sfânta Ana lies in the crater of Ciomatul Mare and is a volcanic lake in Central and Eastern Europe. At the lake, rides on an electric pontoon for a maximum of 12 people and lasting 30 minutes are available.
Tinovul Mohoș is an alpine peat bog in which 13 bodies of water remain. The bog is also home to rare carnivorous plants from the Quaternary.

Culture and history
Mikó Castle has housed the Muzeul Secuiesc al Ciucului since 1970. The museum has an open-air exhibition featuring wooden peasant houses and Szekler gates.
The Pentecost pilgrimage takes place every year in Șumuleu Ciuc; it is considered a tradition that has existed for several centuries.
Mini Transylvania Park displays more than 120 miniature models of representative buildings from Transylvania and offers rides on a mini Mocăniță.
The Toplița Ethnographic Museum presents the life of an ordinary person from the Toplița area through its various stages. It displays traditional garments, some of which are more than 100 years old.
The fortified church of Dârjiu features wall paintings from the 15th century.
