Geographical location

Falsztyn is one of the nine sołectwa within the Łapsze Niżne Gmina. The Łapsze Niżne Gmina is located in Spisz between Podhale and the Pieniny.

Landscape

Branisko, Krzyżowa, Runek and Jaworzyna are located in the area surrounding Falsztyn. Near Falsztyn, on the banks of the Dunajec, there is also the Zielone Skałki nature reserve, which forms an exclave of Pieniny National Park.

Culture and history

Falsztyn was probably founded by German settlers in the 15th century. The name is derived from Falkenstein or Falkstein and means “Sokoli Kamień”.

In the immediate vicinity of Falsztyn are Niedzica (Dunajec) - Zamek and Niedzica - Zamek XIIIw. Červený Kláštor is located in the surrounding area, while Votrubova Chata lies in the wider regional vicinity.
