Brenzone on Lake Garda: Trails, Mountains and Culture
Accommodation in Brenzone
Brenzone between Lake Garda and Monte Baldo
Brenzone is located on the eastern shore of Lake Garda. The area of Brenzone stretches from the shore of Lake Garda to the peaks of Monte Baldo, which rise to over 2,000 metres. The area therefore encompasses different elevations between the lakeshore and the summit zone.
The Ciclopedonale di Brenzone is an approximately 9-kilometre-long, flat lakeside path suitable for everyone. There are 26 small bridges along the route. Along the Ciclopedonale di Brenzone, there are rest areas with benches and shaded sections; there is also direct access to the beaches.
Getting around the lakeshore
Trails by the lake and at higher elevations
The Nordic Walking Park di Brenzone comprises seven official trails: four circular routes by the lake and three high-altitude trails accessible from Prada. A circular route returns to its starting point as a trail; a high-altitude trail is located at a higher elevation.
Landing stages and cable car
Navigarda operates three landing stages in the Brenzone area. A landing stage is a point on the water where ships dock.
The Funivia Prada-Costabella reaches the Costabella zone, at an altitude of over 1,800 metres, from Prada in two sections. A Funivia is a cable car that connects places at different elevations.
Medieval and Roman traces
Campo is a medieval village that is now uninhabited and accessible only on foot. The term medieval refers to the village’s historical period.
The Villa Romana was discovered in 2004 near the Chiesa di San Zeno in Castelletto. The Villa Romana is considered the only excavated example to date of a lakeside residence on the eastern shore of Lake Garda.
The Pietra di Castelletto is considered the only European example of this engraving technique outside the Valcamonica area. An engraving technique involves working by carving signs or representations into stone.
The Chiesa medievale San Zeno a Castelletto features Romanesque forms from the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries. Romanesque forms belong to a medieval architectural style. Access to the Chiesa medievale San Zeno a Castelletto is provided with keys that can be collected from the tourist information office against a deposit.
Olive oil and stand-up paddling
The Festa di Santa Caterina is celebrated on 25 November. During the Festa di Santa Caterina, visitors can watch olives being pressed at an olive mill in Castelletto. During the tourism season, olive oil tastings are organised at the Oleificio Piccoli Produttori di Castelletto. During an olive oil tasting, olive oil is sampled and experienced in terms of its flavour.
At the Acquafresca Sport Center, qualified instructors teach the technique of stand-up paddling. In stand-up paddling, you stand on a board and move across the water with a paddle.
Other places: Malcesine, Assenza and Castelletto Di Brenzone.
