Culture and Crafts in Soraga

The Desmonteada in Soraga accompanies the return of the livestock from the summer mountain pasture at Passo San Pellegrino with a procession in traditional Ladin dress. The Desmonteada programme includes an organic market and a demonstration of traditional cheesemaking.

The Chiesa parrocchiale dei Santi Pietro e Paolo has been documented since 1512. After being damaged by a lightning strike, the church was rebuilt in 1769 and expanded in 1962.

In Barbida, the Chiesa dell’Immacolata was built as a votive church in 1662 and painted in 1928 by the local artist Giuseppe Zulian. The old farmstead of Barbida is mentioned as early as the 15th century. The area around the old farmstead contains old hay barns built using the log construction method. The Soraga | Sester | Palua cultural trail starts and ends in Soraga. It is 5.1 kilometres long and takes around one hour and 50 minutes. You should allow just under two hours for this loop in your daily schedule. This means that the circular route can be planned as a separate block of time.
