Baceno between three valleys and medieval history

The accessible Orrido Sud as a natural experience
The accessible Orrido Sud is around 200 metres long and 20 to 30 metres deep. For visitors, the gorge has been equipped with metal stairways and information panels. At around 200 metres long, the section remains spatially compact. Its depth of 20 to 30 metres, along with the metal stairways and information panels, gives the visit a clearly defined spatial framework.
Alpine farming, sacred art and local history
The Museo dell’Alpeggio documents the activities of Alpine farming. Traditional tools are displayed alongside visual material and explanatory panels; a video room complements the museum’s facilities.
The Chapel of the Madonna is located in the Church of San Gaudenzio. It is now called the Rosary Chapel, and its frescoes focus on the life of Mary. In Croveo, a hamlet of Baceno, there is also the chaplain’s house, “don Amedeo Ruscetta”. Built in 1607 and restored, the building was converted into a museum of sacred art and peasant culture. The museum presents both themes under one roof.
In Goglio, the Museo della Resistenza di Goglio has been housed since 2004 in the building of the station of the former cable car to Alpe Devero. The former cable-car station provides the historical setting for the museum site.
Croveo and the Walserfall via ferrata
A via ferrata is a protected climbing route. The Walserfall via ferrata lies north of Croveo, a hamlet of Baceno, on the road to Alpe Devero. It runs along the rock face beside the Cascata di Agaro waterfall. For orientation on site, Croveo, the road to Alpe Devero and the Cascata di Agaro are the three specific reference points for this protected climbing route.
Public transport to Baceno
For travel by public transport, the Comazzi Domodossola–Cascata del Toce bus route is relevant. It continues directly from Domodossola railway station to Baceno. For planning your own journey, Domodossola railway station is therefore the starting point for the direct connection to Baceno.
