In Fondotoce, the Casa della Resistenza stands in a 16,000-square-metre park next to the site where 43 partisans were shot by Nazi-fascist soldiers on 20 June 1944. The Casa della Resistenza offers educational programmes on contemporary history and significant episodes of local history, particularly the history of the Resistance.

If you would like to take a guided tour of the Casa della Resistenza, allow approximately one and a half hours. Prior, coordinated reservation is required for guided tours. This allows you to include the visit in your daily itinerary as a clearly defined appointment.
The Parco della Memoria e della Pace includes a monumental area dedicated to the Resistance. Commemorative events were held for the 81st and 82nd anniversaries of the massacre of 20 June 1944. On the 82nd anniversary, a commemorative event took place at the Casa della Resistenza in Fondotoce, while the procession arrived at the Parco della Memoria e della Pace in Verbania.
The Casa della Resistenza is located approximately one kilometre from Verbania Pallanza railway station on the international Milan–Domodossola railway line. When planning your journey, the distance should be regarded as an approximate figure.
Reeds, river and cycle paths
The reed bed is the defining habitat of the Riserva Naturale di Fondotoce. The reed bed provides a suitable habitat for the reproduction of lake fish and nesting sites for bird species. Nature observation at this location therefore focuses on a specifically described habitat with functions for fish and birds.
The Riserva Naturale del Fondo Toce encompasses the final section of the Toce River. The Toce River is therefore represented in this protected area by its final section.
The cycle paths in the Riserva Naturale di Fondotoce follow the reed channel connecting Lago Maggiore with Lago di Mergozzo. The cycle paths make it possible to reach beaches and observation points and to follow the Toce River upstream. Those travelling by bicycle will therefore find specifically named routes, observation points, beaches and the route along the Toce leading upstream.
Hiking trail and educational farm
The A00e hiking trail begins in the village of Fondotoce, in the Canton Magistris district, opposite the entrance to the Riserva Naturale del Fondo Toce, and leads to Cavandone. For orientation at the starting point, both the Canton Magistris district and the entrance to the Riserva Naturale del Fondo Toce opposite it are specified.
The “Fattoria del Toce” is an educational farm with a park recognised by the Piedmont Region. You can visit the “Fattoria del Toce” or take part in workshops. In addition to the historical and natural features, the educational farm thus offers an explicitly mentioned place to visit and attend workshops.
