Lakeside and trails in Oggebbio
Oggebbio lies on the shore of Lake Maggiore and borders directly on the mountains. Its location is therefore clearly situated between the lakeshore and the mountain landscape. For outdoor activities, the Nordic Walking and Nordic Trekking Park includes nine routes specifically designed for Nordic Walking and Nordic Trekking, distributed throughout the entire area of Oggebbio. Many of the park’s routes can also be used for easy walks. This option explicitly applies to many routes and not generally to all nine. When planning your day, the location of the chosen route within Oggebbio is therefore a factor in its own right. The possibility of taking easy walks adds a less sport-oriented use to the offering, but remains limited to many of the nine routes.
Churches in Gonte and along Via delle Genti
The parish church of Gonte has three naves, and its ceiling is covered with frescoes depicting the life of Jesus. The parish church of Gonte also preserves a crucifix created in 1712 by the Milanese sculptor Pietro Frasa. The bell tower of the parish church of Gonte is 42 metres high and the tallest in Alto Verbano.
The Oratorio di San Bernardo da Mentone was originally dedicated to San Zenone. Today, the Oratorio di San Bernardo da Mentone is dedicated to San Bernardo d'Aosta, also known as San Bernardo da Mentone. The Chiesa di Sant'Agata has a Romanesque basic structure that was incorporated in the 14th century into an expanded building with a mountainside-facing façade as well as Gothic and Renaissance elements.
The southern Via delle Genti route includes twelve churches in the Oggebbio section. The number refers to the Oggebbio section of the route.
Villa Anelli and its camellias
Villa Anelli was designed as a Romantic garden in 1872 by the Milanese aristocrat Carlo Berzio. The garden of Villa Anelli is inspired by the aesthetics of the sublime.
The garden of Villa Anelli covers 5,000 square metres and lies on both sides of a stream. The garden of Villa Anelli includes numerous terraces with stone walls. The areas on both sides of the stream and the terraces with stone walls divide the garden complex into different sections.
The camellia collection at Villa Anelli comprises 500 plants from 318 spring-flowering varieties, 40 winter-flowering varieties and 30 botanical species. The special microclimate of Oggebbio favours the growth of camellias. There is a timetable for Villa Anelli’s public openings on spring weekends. The flowering period therefore extends from winter into spring, while the public openings relate to spring weekends.
Boat landing stage in Spasolo
From 3 June to 9 September 2026, the Oggebbio boat landing stage in the Spasolo district (Via Nazionale 27, at the port of Oggebbio) will be in operation every Wednesday.
