The ski area includes a mountain station with a ski hut for warming up and refreshments. In winter, around 10 kilometres of cross-country ski trails are available in Werda together with the ski lift.
History and Nature
Werda Reservoir, also known as Geigenbach Reservoir, is located in a wooded Vogtland landscape and dams the Geigenbach stream. It was built from 1904 to 1909 and went into operation in 1910. At the same time, it supplies raw water for drinking water treatment and lies within a drinking water protection zone.
The reservoir is a destination for excursions and recreation for nature lovers. Swimming, fishing and water sports are not possible there because it is a drinking water reservoir. The Felsenweg 3b trail begins at the sports grounds in Werda, leads along the reservoir and the dam through the Geigenbach valley, and then continues through nearby Vogtland landscapes with rock formations and extensive views.
Trails
The green forests around Werda are suitable for walks, cycling tours and hikes, including excursions towards the Valley of the Ten Mills. Further hiking trails lead from Werda towards Schöneck and Grünbach.
