Demerath combines nature trails with prominent cultural and historical attractions. The Geisert juniper nature reserve is located about a 20-minute walk southwest of the town centre, on the slope of a side valley leading to the Grundbach; the Celtic circular hiking trail runs through the reserve.
Nature
The Demerather Drees, a newly redesigned mineral spring, is located about a ten-minute walk from the Geisert nature reserve. The water is mineral-rich, carbonated and highly ferrous, but is not suitable for drinking. Seating is available in the forest.
Culture and History
The Demerath Mill is located about a 30-minute walk southeast of Demerath in a side valley of the Ueßbach. It was first mentioned in documentary records in 1499, formerly served as a bann mill with the right of asylum, and has since been privately rebuilt.
Demerath’s Church of St Peter and St Paul stands between the upper and lower village. A chapel at this location was first documented in 1569; the present church was extended with two transepts in 1975. Its two side altars are regarded as its most important decorative features and depict the Fourteen Holy Helpers. Historically, they occasionally attracted smaller pilgrimages from neighbouring villages.

The surroundings of Demerath include Manderscheid Upper Castle, Höchstberg, Stuben, Hochkelberg, Wolfs-Berg and Nerother Kopf. Kasselburg and Cochem Castle are located in the wider regional area.
