History
The present-day district of Kreuztal developed from the former municipality of Ernsdorf, which was first mentioned in 1417/18. The Kreuztaler Walzwerkverein, founded in 1837, is part of the town's industrial history. Its plants began operations three years later and formed the origin of Kreuztal's industry.
