Culture and History

The Johannes Chapel on the Oedingerberg is one of the cultural and historical stations along the circular trail. The Baroque chapel was built from 1716 onward. During its restoration, a pillar from a 13th-century monastery complex came to light; inside is a Baroque altarpiece. Other stations include the Lintloe Fountain, the manor house at the Alte Burg ruins, the wayside shrine Madonna of the Road, and an interpretation point about the former Sauerland barracks.

Oedingen’s present-day parish church was built in 1832 and preserves the tower of the former church. Its history can be traced back to around the year 1000.
