Nature
Hülsa is situated on a plateau at the foot of the Knüll Mountains and borders the Oberes Rinnetal Landscape Protection Area. The Hülsaer Köpfchen reaches an elevation of 522 meters.
The approximately 8.5-kilometer-long Lochbach Trail leads through the Lochbach Gorge as a circular hiking trail. The route runs along meadow paths, passes wild orchids, and offers views toward the Knüll Mountains and Kellerwald. Access is from Homberg-Hülsa. The 1.3-kilometer-long section through the gorge includes bridges, footbridges, benches, and picnic areas.
Silberberg, Babloh, and Waldknüll are located near Hülsa. Holzheim, Heydau Abbey, and Wildsberg are also situated in the wider surrounding region.
Culture
The Protestant church in Hülsa was built in 1728 and serves as a religious center for neighboring villages. The Knüll song “Mein Dörflein am Knüll,” which Pastor Samuel Raith wrote during his time in Hülsa, is also associated with the village.
Hülsa’s traditional Christmas market takes place annually on the first weekend of Advent in front of the church. The locally named hot drink “Trompetentraum” is served there.
Neuenstein Castle and Ludwigseck Castle are located in the vicinity of Hülsa.
