The Sindlinger Wiesen Nature Discovery Trail, also known as Stadtpark, runs for around 700 metres along the Liederbach in Kelkheim-Mitte. Its short length and setting beside the stream define this local nature trail. For a hike on a quality route, Kelkheim is the starting point of the Taunus Schinderhannes Steig; its route markers begin at the historic Hof Gimbach. The certified trail is well marked in both directions. Craftsmanship and Architectural History

The Kelkheim Museum displays historic furniture from Kelkheim’s furniture-making industry, documentation on the 100-year history of Kelkheim’s carpentry workshops, and a historic workshop. The exhibition brings furniture together with the history of its craft, presenting the subject both through objects and through documentary material. St. Francis Church and Parish Church offers a different historical perspective: it was built in 1908/1909 together with the Franciscan monastery in the Romanesque Revival style. This brings two distinct cultural themes together: the local furniture-making and carpentry tradition, and the architectural history of the church and monastery.

Hof Gimbach and Zauberberg

At Hof Gimbach, home-grown produce is served fresh on your plate or in your glass. There are also Hessian specialities, including apple wine spritzed with sparkling water and made from their own apples, as well as naturally cloudy apple juice. In the garden of Gimbacher Hof, stone slabs mark the floor plans of the former chapel and the chaplain’s residence. Here, regional produce and marked traces of earlier buildings meet in one place.

The Zauberberg complex in Kelkheim-Ruppertshain also includes a restaurant, a café and a wine bar. Individual businesses may change, so it is best to check what is currently on offer before visiting. Together, the two places showcase different sides of local food culture: Hof Gimbach focuses on home-grown produce and Hessian specialities, while the Zauberberg is home to the complex’s dining establishments.

Main-Taunus as a Wider Travel Destination

In the wider Main-Taunus travel destination, Regionalpark Flörsheim offers opportunities for family outings, walks and cycling tours. The observation tower in the regional park provides expansive views of the surrounding area. Flörsheimer Warte adds a historical touch: this 15th-century watchtower recalls the Kasteler Landwehr. Eppstein Castle is another regional point of historical interest: its walls and grounds, along with the castle museum, show how people in the region lived and defended themselves.
