Scenery and the circular trail to the Kaltwasser Falls
Ohlstadt lies at the foot of the 1,790-metre-high Heimgarten and on the edge of the Murnauer Moos nature reserve. The circular trail to the Kaltwasser Falls follows the Kaltwasserlaine stream; along the way, you can enjoy views of the mountain stream and its picturesque cascades. Heimgarten and the ridge hike
Near the destination, the ridge hike from Heimgarten to Herzogstand passes two named peaks: Heimgarten at 1,790 metres and Herzogstand at 1,731 metres. The hike takes about 1.5 hours. Heimgarten can be reached from Ohlstadt, and a hut there is open in summer. After the ridge hike, you can return to Ohlstadt via the cable car from Herzogstand to Walchensee, then take the bus via Kochel. Check whether the cable car and bus are operating before setting out.
