History

The castle ruins of Hilpoltstein have stood above the medieval town since 1100. The 22-meter-high keep offers views of the town's attractions, the Jura witness mountains, the Franconian landscape, and the Nuremberg Reich Forest. The traditional castle festival celebrates the arrival of Countess Palatine Maria Dorothea. A walk along the town wall provides an introduction to Hilpoltstein's history.
