The local history museum, located on the upper floor of the hunting lodge—Haus des Gastes—in Bad Rodach, has collections on the town’s history and local economy. The Rodach Local History Museum was founded in 1905 with the support of Rodach’s citizens, under the direction of municipal treasurer Ferdinand Berner, and commemorates key moments in the town’s history. The collections thus connect with the museum’s historical origins.
The Henneberger Warte offers a change of scenery. The 30-metre-high observation tower has stood on the 403-metre-high Georgenberg since 1987. Its panorama stretches from the Rhön in the northwest, across the Thuringian Forest and the Coburg region, to Veste Heldburg, the “Franconian Beacon.” This offers a different focus from the local history museum: here, the view across the landscape takes centre stage, while the museum focuses on the town’s history and local economy.
