Trails and Nature

Stage 12 of the Albsteig trail leads from Willmandingen via Burladingen to Jungingen.

Burladingen has seven circular hiking trails designed for trekking, relaxed walking, themed exploration, families, and people with reduced mobility. The circular hiking trails pass caves, ruins, viewpoints, and the Lauchert River.

Burladingen also offers the Alb-Crossing route across the Swabian Alb. For cyclists riding individual stages, there is the Swabian Alb Cycle Path, which meets ADFC quality standards, as well as the Hohenzollern Cycle Path.

Burladingen Bike Park offers freeride and downhill trails for mountain bikers. Alpakaglück Melchingen organizes guided alpaca hikes through the Alb landscape.

The Weilerwiesen adventure playground in Burladingen-Melchingen includes the Burg Hohenmelchingen climbing and play house as well as a dirt bike track for children.

Landscape around the Kornbühl

In Burladingen-Salmendingen, the 886-meter-high Kornbühl is a witness mountain in the Swabian Alb Geopark. The Salmendingen St. Anna Chapel is part of the Kornbühl landscape.

Below the Kornbühl in Burladingen-Salmendingen, the temporary Märzensee appears after heavy rain or snowmelt. It is a special attraction for photographers, hikers, and recreational athletes. The Salmendingen Waterfalls flow over limestone tuff during snowmelt or heavy rain.

The source of the Lauchert in Burladingen-Melchingen is the only tributary of the Lauchert that carries water year-round.

The Kornbühl Tour is an easy, 20.5-kilometer family cycling tour with a short climb around the Kornbühl. It is signposted according to FGSV standards; intermediate wayfinding signs are used between intersections.

Culture and History

The Burladingen night watchman tour is an evening guided walk through the town, during which visitors learn about local history. Theater Lindenhof in Burladingen-Melchingen has the status of a regional theater.

The Höllenstein karst cave contains prehistoric finds from the late Celtic period. From mid-November to mid-April, the cave should be viewed exclusively from the outside to protect the bats.

The Burladingen Roman fort is not visible as an open-air site. Information boards at the parking area on the B 32 explain its history and significance.

Burladingen's documented administrative history dates back to the establishment of the Burladingen district office in 1544.
