Hiking routes with different courses

The Baiersbronn Panoramasteig runs around Schwarzenberg. Another hiking route is called “Fairy-Tale: Baiersbronn-Schwarzenberg”. It begins at Schwarzenberg station, leads through Schwarzenberg and ends at the village square. The two trails therefore differ in their geographical reference points: the Panoramasteig uses the village as the reference for its route, while “Fairy-Tale” forms a trail that starts at the station, passes through the village and ends at a defined destination. This information can be used directly when planning a hike in Schwarzenberg. Anyone looking at the course of “Fairy-Tale” has Schwarzenberg station at the beginning and the village square at the end; the Panoramasteig, by contrast, describes the route around the village. On “Fairy-Tale”, the railway connection is at the beginning of the trail, while on the “To the Panorama Hut in Schwarzenberg” tour it is on the return journey; both routes mention Schwarzenberg station.

Cliffs, a spring and views along the way

The Verlobungsfelsen on the Baiersbronn Panoramasteig is a rocky outcrop. A local legend associates it with a marriage promise made during the period of extensive timber felling around 250 years ago. The Panoramasteig also leads to the Schwarzenbach Spring. On the section across the Roten Rain, the trail offers views of Schwarzenberg and its centuries-old hereditary farmsteads. For those interested in culture, the trail combines a local tradition with a rocky outcrop, a spring and views of the farmsteads. These landscape features are not outside the trail theme described; rather, they are part of the specific local and natural references of the Panoramasteig. The legend of the Verlobungsfelsen refers to a different period from the first mention of the castle around 1085.

SchloĂźberg and Schwarzenberg Castle

Remains of the moat from the former Schwarzenberg Castle have survived on Schloßberg. Schwarzenberg Castle was first mentioned around 1085. Thus, Schloßberg contains a surviving trace in the landscape associated with a castle whose first mention dates back a long way. In the village of Schwarzenberg, the settlement consisted of only ten hereditary farmsteads for centuries. New farmsteads were gradually added in the early 19th century. For those interested in culture, both the castle ruins on Schloßberg and the development of the hereditary farmsteads are therefore part of Schwarzenberg’s local history. The chronology of the farmsteads extends from the long period when there were ten hereditary farmsteads to the farmsteads added later in the early 19th century. The increase in the number of farmsteads thus followed the long period during which Schwarzenberg consisted of ten hereditary farmsteads.

Station, playground and return journey by suburban train

The Schwarzenberg playground with a water-treading facility is located not far from the station in Schwarzenberg. On the “To the Panorama Hut in Schwarzenberg” tour, the return route leads to Schwarzenberg suburban train station. From there, the suburban train returns hourly to Schönmünzach, the starting point. For this tour, the return to the starting point is therefore linked to the suburban train station and the hourly connection to Schönmünzach. Schwarzenberg station is also at the beginning of the “Fairy-Tale: Baiersbronn-Schwarzenberg” route, which leads through Schwarzenberg to the village square. Thus, the railway connection appears at different points on the two trails: once at the start of the route and once on the return journey to the starting point. On the Panorama Hut tour, the return journey to Schönmünzach leads back to the starting point; on “Fairy-Tale”, by contrast, the trail ends at the village square.
