Schömberg: Views, Trails and Winter Activities
Accommodation in Schömberg
Schömberg combines winter activities with trails, views and recreational opportunities in the spa park. If you’re looking for accommodation for your stay, you can start by considering which activities matter most to you: a drag lift, cross-country skiing, a trip to the observation tower or a varied program beyond winter sports. This makes it possible to get a sense of the town based on specific options, without limiting all activities to a single season.

Winter Activities in Schömberg
The Eulenloch area near Schömberg is home to the lowest-altitude drag lift in the Northern Black Forest. The Hengstberg cross-country ski trail is one of the trails in the Northern Black Forest rated as being of intermediate difficulty. The lift and trail therefore offer different forms of winter sport. Check the lift’s current operating status before visiting; trail availability depends on conditions.
These winter activities can be a starting point when looking for a ski hotel or other accommodation for a ski holiday. Consider whether you mainly want to spend time at the lift, on a cross-country ski trail or doing other activities as well. In Schömberg, there are also trails and places to visit that offer their own attractions beyond winter sports.
Views and Accessible Trails
The top platform of the Himmelsglück observation tower in Schömberg is 50 metres high. From there, the view extends across the Northern Black Forest and far beyond. The accessible Schömberg AugenBlick circular trail is 2.1 kilometres long and leads to the tower. It starts at parking lots P1/P2 on Schwarzwaldstraße, opposite the Kurhaus. This makes it easy to include both the viewpoint and the named trailhead in your day’s plans.
Another accessible nature trail is called “Schömberg with All the Senses.” For a seasonal activity, the Schömberg barefoot trail follows a route of around 800 metres over more than 20 different materials. The walk takes just under half an hour; the season runs from May to October. Comparing the two options reveals different types of trails: a loop to the observation tower, a nature trail and a route available during a specified season.
Activities in and around the Spa Park
From the observation tower, the Blackforest Flyline runs for over 500 metres and the Blackforest Flying Fox for over 600 metres, both descending to the spa park. The two attractions differ in their stated lengths. Check current operating information before visiting. The spa park also has a miniature golf course.
Schömberg’s Generation Active Park has more than 20 pieces of play equipment. They require coordination and strength, help develop a sense of balance or are designed for play. At Anni’s Black Forest Mystery, visitors solve riddles and complete tasks to help the lucky town regain its lost good fortune. These attractions offer different experiences: physical activity on the equipment or a mystery story. The spa and healing forest is open to tourists, residents, clinic patients and other user groups.
Hiking and Cycling
Twelve hiking routes are offered in and around Schömberg. As the selection may be updated, it’s worth checking the routes before planning your trip around them. In the wider region, the premium Zollernblickweg scenic walking trail runs for 7.2 kilometres around Oberlengenhardt; it starts at the Oberlengenhardt shooting club. This makes it possible to distinguish the local selection of routes from a named trail in the wider area.
For cycling, the municipality of Schömberg has an extensive network of forest roads and trails. The climbs range in difficulty. When planning, this means you can consider not only whether you’d prefer to hike or cycle, but also that the climbs described vary in how challenging they are.
The options range from winter activities to trails and recreational opportunities in the spa park. If you’re looking for accommodation in Schömberg, it’s best to base your choice on which of these activities you’d like to shape your stay.
