Bozel: Hotels and Accommodation

Bozel combines prominent evidence of local history with signposted trails, water sports and a wide range of leisure activities. In the town centre, on the right bank of the Bonrieu mountain stream, stands the Tour Sarrazine. It dates from the late 12th century and is considered the oldest building in the Tarentaise Valley. The fully restored building houses a permanent exhibition about life in the canton from the Neolithic period to the present day.

History

The Chapelle Notre-Dame de Tout-Pouvoir was an important pilgrimage site for the entire valley. Its altarpiece is classified as a Monument historique. In the Saint-François-de-Sales church, the altarpiece depicts not only the healing of a child but also a scene from Raphael's “Transfiguration”. The church also has a spire with a double onion dome, considered one of the most distinctive silhouettes in Savoie.

Trails

The signposted Boucle du Mont Jovet starts in Bozel, is 13 kilometres long and is rated difficult. A route to Mont Jovet leads to the 2,558-metre-high summit, which offers panoramic views.

The Sentier des Vignes is an easy 14-kilometre hiking trail in Bozel. It starts at the Bozel Tourist Office and can also be cycled. Shorter is the “Les Rives du Doron” Promenade Confort: the very easy circular route is 2.1 kilometres long and is located in Bozel.

Water

At the Plan d'eau de Bozel, kayaking, airboating, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, group paddleboarding and rafting are offered for individuals and groups. Swimming there is free and supervised from 27 June to 27 August. There are two pools, one for children and one for adults. Parking, including a bus parking area, is available at the Plan d'eau de Bozel; the site is accessible to pushchairs.

Leisure

Les Poneys du Jovet offers 20- to 30-minute introductory rides for children aged two to ten; a parent holds the child's pony during the ride. The activities in Bozel also include pony taster sessions from the age of two, forest rides and introductory courses in outdoor riding.

Bozel Aventure is a treetop adventure park in a spruce forest on the Doron de Bozel. Bozel Fun Park is a children's play park with trampoline nets, a trampoline cage, inflatable games and beach volleyball; it is suitable for children aged two and over.
