Culture and history
South of Lac d’Aiguebelette, the Boffard–Beau Phare archaeological site is located within the municipality of Aiguebelette-le-Lac. It is considered the best-preserved of the 18 sites recorded around the lake.
Beau Phare is considered a Neolithic pile-dwelling settlement with an access path and palisades. The Beau Phare site was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2011.
Information panels at the Boffard site in Aiguebelette-le-Lac are among the local opportunities to discover the pile-dwelling heritage.
Hiking
Les voies de l’Épine is a moderately difficult, 9.3-kilometre hiking route. It can be started at the car park by the church in Aiguebelette-le-Lac or at the Allemands car park. The Les voies de l’Épine trail leads to a former Roman road.
Circuit 8 – Le trail du pic noir begins in the village of Aiguebelette-le-Lac and leads to one of the most beautiful viewpoints over Lac d’Aiguebelette: Mont Grêle.
