Entrechaux: Hotels and accommodations

In Entrechaux, the freestanding Romanesque Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Nazareth stands on a hill northeast of the village. A gravestone inscription discovered during its repair in 1828 is dated to the 1st century. The chapel also contains reused stones from a Roman temple and Roman villas.

The Chapelle Saint-André is also one of the older architectural monuments in the area: its original construction may date back to the 9th century. The apse and the imprint of the western façade have been preserved; the choir is covered by painted trompe-l’œil decoration.

A medieval or Romanesque bridge crosses the Ouvèze. Its segmental arch is 24 metres long and has withstood flooding. The ruins of the Château d’Entrechaux, dating from the 10th or 11th century, stand on a rocky outcrop. The destruction and looting of the Château d’Entrechaux began on 9 September 1792.

Hiking and climbing

The d’Entrechaux hike is 7.7 kilometres long, easy, and has an elevation gain of 146 metres. It leads to three Romanesque chapels and an oratory above the village and offers views across the north of the Vaucluse.

The Chemin des Chapelles, Parcours 6, begins in Entrechaux and follows an old route along the Ouvèze towards the Alps and Italy. The trail passes close to the Gorges du Toulourenc, where the Chapelle Notre-Dame-des-Anges, attached to the rock, comes into view. The route also offers a view down over Entrechaux and its castle, situated on a rocky outcrop.

The Trois Rivières climbing area in Entrechaux has 239 routes ranging from 10 to 30 metres in length. It offers a variety of climbing opportunities for beginners and experienced climbers.
