Městiště: Hotels and Accommodation
Accommodation in Městiště
Nature
The Městišťské rokle Nature Reserve was first designated as a nature reserve on 9 December 1994. It protects the headwaters, wetlands and streamside floodplain forests of the Jelenka stream and its tributaries. At the same time, it serves to preserve and restore natural forests and to protect herbaceous plant communities in the treeless parts of the area.

Městiště is visited mainly by cyclists because of the beautiful surrounding countryside. The village thus combines a nature-oriented landscape setting with a pronounced historical dimension.
History and Craftsmanship
By around 1554, Městiště was already marked on a map of the Výšinná trade route from Zwiesel to Klatovy. At that time, Městiště had farmsteads with associated arable land.
The former local craft tradition has also been preserved in the records: Denkcherzův hamr remained in operation until 1975. Axes, hoes, ploughshares and other tools were made there from imported iron.
