The chapels around Momchilovtsi are organized into three separate hiking routes. Ayazmoto is hidden in a pine forest south of the “St. Ilia Peak” summit.
Culture and History
The DANO Center is housed in the reconstructed former school of Momchilovtsi. It presents the cultural, historical, and natural features of the Rhodopes.
The Church of Saint Constantine and Saint Helena in Momchilovtsi was built in 1836.
The Momchilovtsi Local History Museum contains more than 3,000 exhibits and is divided into departments for archaeology, the Bulgarian National Revival, and ethnography. The small art gallery in Momchilovtsi displays works by classical and contemporary Bulgarian artists.
Momchilovtsi has preserved characteristic folklore, traditions, crafts, and Christian religious customs.
