The ski area of Bansko has more than 75 kilometres of professionally groomed slopes. It is located on the northern slopes of the Pirin Mountains and offers conditions for beginners as well as advanced skiers and snowboarders. A ski road approximately seven kilometres long connects the upper part of the ski area with the town.

Nature

Bansko is one of the main access points to Pirin National Park for Vihren Hut, Banderitsa Hut and Demyanitsa Hut. The marked Pirin Route III leads from Bansko via Peshterite, Banderitsa Hut and Vihren Hut to Yane Sandanski Hut.

Sveti Arhangel and Sveti Ilia are located in the immediate vicinity of Bansko. Shilicharnika and Tsarna mogila are located in the surrounding area of Bansko. Baykusheva Mura in Pirin National Park is more than 1,300 years old and is one of the oldest trees in Bulgaria.

Culture

The Velyan House is a fortified 18th-century house with frescoes, wood-carved decorations, thick stone walls, underground hiding places and loopholes.

The Radonova House displays archaeological finds dating from the Thracian period through antiquity to the Middle Ages, including ceramics, coins, glass, jewellery and preserved vessels. It also presents an ethnographic exhibition on local material culture with household objects, tools, everyday and festive clothing, jewellery and colourful textiles.

Cuisine

Bansko cuisine includes kapama, chomlek, katino meze, Banski starets, a flat Bansko-style sausage and blood sausage, as well as stews, homemade sausages and appetisers.
