Gramais is a starting point for numerous hikes and mountain tours, as well as walks and walking tours. When planning a stay, it is worth considering the specific activity and its conditions: the MĂĽhlschrofen climbing garden has a fixed season, while preparation of the Gramaiser circular cross-country ski trail depends on snow conditions. Trails to nearby peaks and mountain lakes, as well as a high-alpine day tour, offer different focuses. If you are looking for accommodation in Gramais, you can take these seasonal and scenic options into account when planning.

Hiking Trails and Mountain Lakes

Well-marked and regularly maintained hiking trails lead from Gramais to the surrounding peaks and through dense green forests. Check trail conditions before setting out; regular maintenance is no substitute for a current assessment of the specific conditions. In addition to hikes and mountain tours, walks and walking tours offer further ways to explore the area.

Kogelsee is the largest of five mountain lakes in the mountainous landscape at the foot of Kogelseespitze. Gufelsee lies at an altitude of 2,300 metres and is known for its deep-blue water. RoĂźkarsee lies at 2,123 metres and can be reached from Gramais in about three hours; the actual walking time may vary depending on conditions. On the way from Gramais to RoĂźkarsee, you can also visit Schafkarsee at 2,000 metres. The roughly three hours to RoĂźkarsee provide a time estimate, while the elevations given for Gufelsee and Schafkarsee indicate the locations of those destinations. This information answers different planning questions.

Mountain Tours and Climbing

The Lechtal High Trail, with its numerous Alpine Club huts, can be reached directly on a day tour. This tour involves high-alpine conditions and equipment requirements. Take both into account when planning, and distinguish these requirements from those for a tour to a single lake or a walk.

The “Mühlschrofen” climbing garden is located directly within a wildlife protection area. The climbing season is therefore limited to the period from 15 May to 15 October. Check local conditions before climbing. Climbing courses for all levels can be booked through Bergschule Lechtal; check availability before your trip.

Winter Activities and Getting There

The Gramaiser circular cross-country ski trail offers a way to explore the municipal area and the atmosphere of the mountain village. Its preparation depends on snow conditions. The Gramais hiking bus operates only in summer; check the timetable before travelling. Snow conditions are the key factor when planning to use the ski trail, while the hiking bus’s summer operating season should be taken into account.

Gramais is accessible from Häselgehr via a well-maintained road. Road conditions can vary seasonally. Gramais is also part of the Tyrolean Lech Nature Park. Both the journey and the nature park setting are therefore worth considering when choosing your stay.

Church and Local History

The Catholic parish church of St John the Baptist is part of the village’s history. It was rebuilt from 1824 to 1832 and is protected as a historic monument by ordinance. The construction period provides a specific historical connection to the village and adds a cultural-historical aspect to the landscape and activity themes.
