The access route from the village centre follows the western side of the Höhenbach Valley and provides a clearly described connection between the village and the bridge.

The suspension bridge can also be combined with a visit to the Simms Waterfall. The waterfall lies along the impressive Höhenbach Gorge and can be reached directly from Holzgau. At the Simms Waterfall, a guided via ferrata tour with state-certified mountain guide Christian Fritz is offered; safety equipment is provided. This tour is therefore a guided activity and should not be equated with an independently described via ferrata visit.

In addition to its winter-related attractions, Holzgau offers a villagescape shaped by history. Holzgau in 1401: a parish with an older church on the Kirchbühel hill. Several houses feature valuable late Baroque façade paintings, known locally as “Lüftlmalerei”. The frescoes point to the great prosperity of those seasonal workers and itinerant traders who amassed considerable wealth abroad.

Winter sports, paths along the Höhenbach and historic house façades belong to different aspects of a stay in Holzgau. The Lüftlmalerei can be viewed all year round, so this part of visiting the village is not tied to a specific winter sports season.
