Asching: Trails, Tobogganing and Aschinger Alm

In winter, the forest road from the “Asching” car park to Aschinger Alm can also be used as a toboggan run. There is also a hiking route to Aschinger Alm; a short e-bike and mountain bike tour leads from Asching along a scenic alpine pasture road to the hut. The hut also has a cheese dairy.

Trails to Aschinger Alm and the toboggan run

From the “Asching” car park in Buchberg, the hike follows a forest road to the Aschinger Alm mountain inn. The hike is suitable for families and starts and ends at the “Asching Buchberg” car park.

From the church in Ebbs, the route to Aschinger Alm is signposted.

Aschinger Alm can be reached by car via Ebbs or by the Zahmer Kaiser chairlift in Durchholzen. The car park for the Aschinger Alm toboggan run is the Wander- und Radweg-Aschingeralm car park in Asching. Free toboggan rental is available directly at Aschinger Alm.

Loop with mountain views and cycling options

The 300 | Aschinger Alm Loop climbs through Oberbuchberg to the Aschinger Alm alpine inn. Along the loop, there are views of the Zahmer Kaiser, the Inn Valley and Lake Walchsee. The descent leads through a wooded section along a gravel road to Asching and the hiking car park. The ascent and descent therefore follow different sections: the route climbs through Oberbuchberg, while the return to Asching leads through the forest and along a gravel road.

Cyclists can enjoy a short e-bike and mountain bike tour from Asching along a scenic alpine pasture road to Aschinger Alm. In addition, stages 12–13 of the Mozart Cycle Path pass through Asching before reaching the main road to Durchholzen. The two cycling options have different focuses: the short tour directly connects Asching with the hut, while the Mozart Cycle Path stage includes Asching as part of a long-distance route.

The routes also differ in their course: For the hike, the “Asching Buchberg” car park is both the starting point and the endpoint. The short cycling route leads from Asching to the hut, while the Mozart Cycle Path stage continues from Asching to the main road to Durchholzen. The 300 | Aschinger Alm Loop climbs via Oberbuchberg and descends back to Asching through the forest and along a gravel road.

Cheese dairy and local character

The cheese dairy at Aschinger Alm processes the milk from its alpine cows into various types of cheese, butter, quark, yoghurt and other dairy products. The alpine cheese is made from silage-free hay milk according to traditional recipes and time-honoured methods. On the 300 | Aschinger Alm Loop, food lovers should therefore take the opportunity to visit the cheese dairy at Aschinger Alm. The loop combines the route through Oberbuchberg with views of the Zahmer Kaiser, the Inn Valley and Lake Walchsee.
