The Kitzbühel ski area connects Kitzbühel, Reith, Aurach and Jochberg. It covers 233 kilometres of slopes and has 58 lift facilities. Aurach is also an official hiking village and is part of the Kitzbühel Southern Alps hiking area in summer. From Laubkogel, the view stretches across Kitzbühel and the Kitzbüheler Horn to the Wilder Kaiser. This gives a ski holiday in Aurach bei Kitzbühel a regional winter focus; the hiking perspective is explicitly summery.

Wildlife Park Aurach: Animals and Visitor Experiences

The Aurach Wildlife Park is home to 350 animals. At the Streichlstadl, you can pet llamas, sheep, Shetland ponies, donkeys, goats, rabbits and guinea pigs. A supervised animal-feeding session for children is offered there at 1:30 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The daily wildlife feeding takes place at 2:30 pm at the feeding site, about a two-minute walk from the entrance area. This wildlife feeding does not take place during the rutting season, from mid-September to early November.

The entire wildlife park is accessible with a pushchair. Wheelchair access extends to the feeding site and the lynx enclosure. This makes it possible to take both feeding experiences and the specifically named accessible areas into account when planning a visit.

Church, Chapels and Mining History

Aurach Parish Church was first mentioned in 1365 and dedicated to Saint Rupert in 1427. The Passion frescoes on its exterior wall date from around 1440. The sequence distinguishes the early mention, the dedication and the later frescoes as three milestones in the church's history.

Chapels and mining history are also among Aurach's cultural themes: the Pocher Chapel was built by miners. The Brander Chapel, devastated by a storm, was rebuilt in 1911. The hike to Kelchalm and Bochumer Hütte starts in Oberaurach and leads to the district of Kochau, where traditional Tyrolean houses can be admired. The historic Kelchalm building served as a food and sleeping place for miners. On the return leg of the Kelchalm route, the path passes the ruins of the former ore-crushing mill. These former workplaces and places of shelter add to the impressions of the church and chapels.

Seasonal Information and Finding Accommodation

From June to September, the NaturTaxi takes visitors from nine pick-up points to five natural attractions, including the starting point for the Aurach Wildlife Park. Dates and fares may change; routes may also vary. Check the latest information before setting off.

If you are looking for a ski hotel or other accommodation for a ski holiday, you can assess Aurach according to your travel dates and priorities: the Kitzbühel ski area is the winter focus, while the hiking village and the Kitzbühel Southern Alps offer an explicitly summery perspective. If being close to lifts or slopes is important to you, check the location of each accommodation carefully. This keeps the ski area, the character of the village and the specific accommodation as separate aspects of your choice.
