Klippitztörl: Skiing, Winter Trails and Summer Experiences
Accommodation in Klippitztörl
Klippitztörl combines a ski area with six modern lifts and 13 runs of all difficulty levels with winter alternatives and a wide range of activities away from the slopes. When searching for a ski hotel or other accommodation for your ski holiday, it is therefore important to consider which activities will shape your stay: regular days of skiing, snowshoe hikes or shared activities with children and non-skiers.
Ski Area and Different Requirements
The ski area at Klippitztörl has six modern lifts and 13 runs of all difficulty levels. This classification provides an objective basis when members of a travel group have different levels of prior experience. Experienced skiers can choose runs according to their personal preferences, while less experienced winter sports enthusiasts can take the designated difficulty levels into account.
Snowshoes as an Alternative to a Day of Skiing
Those who do not want to spend their entire stay on the runs can also rent snowshoes at Klippitztörl. They are available from Klippitztörl Touristik at the main ticket office by the Hocheggerlift; the rental price is 12.00 euros per day. This specific option adds another winter activity to the range of slope-based activities. It is of interest when planning for mixed groups if not all travellers want to take part in the same winter sport.
Summer Toboggan Run and Adventure Climbing Park
Klippitztörl also offers clearly defined experiences outside the winter season. A chairlift takes visitors to the summit of the Hohenwart at an altitude of 1,818 m; the summer toboggan run then leads back down. It is 1,400 metres long and covers a difference in altitude of 260 metres.
The adventure climbing park was built on natural terrain near the summer toboggan run. It is aimed at holiday families, day visitors, schools, groups and seminars. The Kiddy Park includes tree elements, suspension bridges and flying foxes. A minimum height of 120 cm applies; children may use the park only when accompanied by an adult. This requirement should be taken into account in advance when choosing shared activities with children.
Hiking, Tours and Nature Observation
Klippitztörl has an extensive, well-signposted network of hiking trails. The tours have been recorded by GPS, described in detail and can be printed out together with a tour map. This allows you to select your preferred hike before setting off based on the available tour information. Numerous scenic hikes lead through and around the Klippitztörl hiking paradise.
When hiking at Klippitztörl, chamois can be observed on the Forstalpe, marmots on the Geierkogel and numerous birds in addition. These nature experiences give the stay a different focus from a pure day of skiing and may play a role when planning a stay for people with different interests.
Travel and Combined Experiences
The ÖBB Erlebnis Ticket combines the train journey, lift ride, tobogganing and/or the climbing park at a reduced combined price. This brings several components of an outing together in a single offer. When selecting your accommodation, you can therefore consider not only the ski area but also whether you would like to plan individual days with a lift, toboggan run, climbing park or hikes. The right choice depends on whether short distances to a particular activity, a varied daily schedule or the division of activities within your travel group is the priority.
