Erts can be explored through a range of themes: the Roc de la Coma d’Erts Via Ferrata, cycling routes and the church of Sant Romà d’Erts. If you are looking for accommodation in Erts, first consider which of these aspects is most interesting to you during your stay. The information below will help you distinguish between via ferrata climbing, cycling and architectural history.

Roc de la Coma d’Erts Via Ferrata

The Roc de la Coma d’Erts Via Ferrata has a moderate difficulty level. It crosses long rock steps secured with chains on the left-hand side of the route. There are also exposed sections that are slightly challenging. Several features together determine the character of the route: its difficulty rating, the rock steps and the exposed passages.

The summit is at an altitude of 1,650 metres, and the Via Ferrata faces southwest. These details provide additional orientation when considering the route. Access information may change. Confirm access locally before setting off.

Cycling: route length and road layout

Cycling Route 10 (Erts–Pal) starts in the village of Erts, halfway between La Massana and Arinsal. It is 8.4 kilometres long. The starting point and route length give you concrete details for planning your trip; this route can therefore be considered a cycling option in its own right, alongside the via ferrata.

The Port of Cabús route towards Erts offers a different point of reference. The road section as far as the Poble d’Erts roundabout is initially wide and has a cycle lane. After that, the road narrows and has no hard shoulder up to the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit towards Pal. This change in the road layout is an important distinction in the route description. Road conditions may change; check the signs along the way as well.

Sant Romà d’Erts and other cultural attractions in La Massana

The church of Sant Romà d’Erts dates from the 18th century and was built near the old Romanesque chapel. Above the entrance is a double bell gable, and the church also has a porch. Inside, a Baroque altarpiece from the old church has been preserved. Its paintings depict the martyrdom of Saint Roman. The construction period, architectural details and altarpiece each offer a different way to understand the church’s architectural and artistic history.

In La Massana itself, you can visit the Farga Rossell as a cultural attraction in its own right. It explores the entire process of producing and processing iron, through to the manufacture of iron bars, as well as the development of the techniques used. Check the current visitor arrangements before your visit.

The parish church of Sant Iscle and Santa Victòria in La Massana also offers a different perspective on architectural history. It dates from the 17th century and was built over an older medieval place of worship. Inside are five Baroque altarpieces dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.

La Massana Còmic features themed exhibitions by internationally renowned artists, discussions with authors, film screenings and comic workshops. The museum is only open when exhibitions are taking place, so check current access information in advance. This will help you distinguish between the cultural attractions in Erts itself and those to be found in La Massana when planning your trip.
