There is an intense activity in summer in many companies. So many employees have no other choice than to leave their annual vacation for winter. However, some people prefer a winter vacation, too as they like sitting in a ski hut by the fireplace. Besides, winter hiking has a very long tradition.

Winter walking in a clear and clean air has a positive effect on health. Especially allergic individuals benefit from the winter hiking because there is no pollen burden at this season at all. There are many possibilities of winter sports. The most notable are winter hiking, skiing and sledging. Winter walking can be arranged in a number of ways. You either stay in a hotel or organize small woodland walk in the snow. Winter walking are particularly suitable for families with children. There are very good animal tracks in the snow, too. Before you go on winter walking you can get the information about the suitable hiking routes from your tour operator and owner of a ski hut. The equipment includes only warm clothing - and a good deal of sunshine in the heart and the joy of walking.

You can walk on snowshoes through the snowy, pristine winter landscape. Unlike skiing the use of snowshoes doesn’t require any special knowledge. Everyone can run on show shoes along the nature strip. This also trains the respiratory muscles in a gentle manner. Some tour operators offer guided winter walks on snow shoes. Besides, it is still possible to combine the showshoe walks with the dog sledging. This especially offered in the Alps region and Chiemgau highlands. Good travel providers also choose the route according to the participants’ conditions. And you can always stay for a night in a bivouac, igloo or even in a snow cave. The aim of a snowshoe hiking is not to reach the summit and to be the fastest one but to get the natural experience. That makes this kind of winter sports to be suitable for inexperienced hikers, too.
