Schladming-Dachstein in Styria is not only one of the best-known ski resorts in Austria, but can also call itself the best ski resort in the Alps in the years ahead. Every three years, the independent agency Mountain Management, based in Bregenz, Austria, sets out to find the best ski resort in Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, home to the largest ski resorts in the Alps.
Best Skiresort Report
Last winter, ratings from around 18,000 winter sports enthusiasts at 40 ski resorts in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy were included in Mountain Management’s so-called “Best Skiresort Report.” The results of the survey are now available and were published in recent days.

Renowned competitors from Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland
According to Mountain Management, winter sports enthusiasts will find the best conditions for a skiing holiday in the Alps in Schladming in Styria. Schladming-Dachstein came out on top with an average overall score of 8.03 points, beating renowned competitors from Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. Ratings were also collected from resorts including Kitzbühel, Sölden, Garmisch, Bormio and St. Moritz. Lech-Zürs (Austria), Aletsch Arena and Zermatt (both in Switzerland) took the next places, in that order. Winter sports enthusiasts could award scores from 1 to 10 in 20 categories. Mountain Management asked about service, the range of après-ski options, value for money, hotels and staff friendliness, among other things.

With an average score of 8.67 points, the Schladming-Dachstein ski resort in Styria also achieved the highest score in the particularly important “Friendliness” category. The best ski resort in the Alps offers winter sports enthusiasts more than 850 kilometres of pistes on slopes of every difficulty level. The overall rating also once again reflects the excellent quality of a skiing holiday in the Alps. In its “Best Skiresort Report,” Mountain Management calculated an average score of 7.51 points for all the ski resorts surveyed in Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
