A Romantic Christmas Ski Holiday at Lake Achensee
Advent and Christmas on a ski holiday at Lake Achensee are wonderfully romantic. Far from the pre-Christmas rush and overcrowded shops, you can enjoy a relaxing shopping trip at Lake Achensee. The festive Christmas spirit is in the air. And a run on the ski slopes really clears your head. That way, you can enjoy Christmas with your family at Lake Achensee.
The holiday paradise of Lake Achensee
The varied ski holiday paradise around fjord-like Lake Achensee is quite snow-sure. Families with children are very welcome in the ski resorts of Achenkirch, Pertisau and Maurach. There is a wide range of winter sports, and cross-country skiers will find an extensive network of trails. Relaxation and wellness are a priority at Lake Achensee, the largest lake in Tyrol. Most of the hotels are in the upper category.

Ski areas around Lake Achensee
Christlum has the largest selection of lifts and slopes, with wide-open runs. Beginners and experts alike will find ideal descents here. Beginners can try the Nordhang drag lift and the Brandtal area, for example. The little ski bunnies are in good hands at the ski kindergarten by the Christlum Express mountain station.
Pertisau offers a compact ski area on the Zwölferkopf. There are lovely runs above the Bärenbadalm. The slopes leading to the quiet Steinberg side valley and those near Achenkirch are wonderfully scenic. But the cross-country trail from Pertisau to sunny Falzthurn Valley is an absolute highlight of the ski area at Lake Achensee.
The traditional Advent market, with its decorated stalls, takes place on Saturday, 29 November 2008, from 2 p.m. and draws visitors with its festive atmosphere. A celebration featuring roasted chestnuts, grilled sausages, mulled wine and other treats gets underway in front of the Dorfwirt inn. Christmas decorations, Advent wreaths and Christmas trees are also on sale. The proceeds from sales are always donated to a good cause.
From 1 December 2008, the first Advent house in Steinberg am Rofan will shine brightly until Christmas. Here, too, Advent is celebrated on 29 November with chestnuts, Kiachl pastries and mulled wine.
