Glaciers invite you to a summer ski holiday

The glaciers are inviting you to hit the slopes. Even now, in summer and before the start of autumn, 20 cm of fresh snow has fallen on the glaciers. Even the most impatient skiers and snowboarders can get their fill. That bodes well for the coming ski season. The glacier ski areas are ready.

The five Tyrolean glacier ski areas are well known to winter sports enthusiasts: Hintertux, Kaunertal, Pitztal, Sölden and Stubai. The majestic glaciers are a feast for the senses. Skiing paradises amid a fascinating winter landscape. Anyone who skis down these impressive slopes in crystal-clear mountain air will never forget the experience. Even the colors seem different. At an altitude of 3,000 m, you really do feel different. It’s no illusion. Up here, you experience the mountains like nowhere else in the world. Anyone who has visited one of the five Tyrolean glaciers can confirm it.

If you’ve never experienced the magic of the glacier world, you should try the “White 5.” For the first time, the White 5 ski pass makes it possible to go glacier hopping across seasons. It gives you access to all five glaciers in Tyrol from October 1 through Whit Monday (June 1, 2009). This natural spectacle is not to be missed. It’s a sensation for the senses that’s hard to describe. And then there’s the wonderfully sparkling powder snow. On the glaciers, it’s anything but unusual.

According to the organizers, the season in Pitztal has already opened, as of Saturday. The runs in the upper glacier area are reportedly in good condition. So if you can hardly wait for your ski holiday, you can get started now. Head up to the glacier and straight into the powder snow!
