Several small alpine resorts in France merged into one large ski resort area, which was called "Ski Lake Annecy". Local slopes are distinguished by relaxed atmosphere, tranquility and beauty of the alpine nature, which is combined with the traditional developed French ski infrastructure.
The most famous among the four resorts that are included into the Annecy ski region the best known is La Clusaz. The remaining three resorts - Le Grand Bornand, Saint Jean de Sixt and Manigod – are not familiar to the Russian fans of winter recreation. Anyway, from now all four resorts are now linked by the integrated network of ski lifts. Also resorts will join its efforts in promoting its opportunities in the international arena.
The total length of the region tracks will be about 220 kilometers. it will be served by 85 lifts of different classes. The highest ski areas are located at 2,600 meters above the sea level. La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, which are a part of the region, are marked by the national Famille Plus symbol, which is given in France to the family ski resorts.
Ski areas are one of the important recent Alpine trends. At present, promoting winter holidays on behalf of the region is fashionable in Austria, France and Italy. Such ski areas as Ski Amade in Austria or Three Valleys in France are considered to be the standards of organization several resorts into large ski areas.
Lake Annecy region this year promises to make itself known. So, here from 15 to 18 December, 2011 for the first time in the history will be held the Biathlon World Cup stage.
Lake Annecy ski area is located about an hour's drive from the international airport of Geneva. In addition to the alpine slopes there is an opportunity to get acquainted with the local sights and historic medieval town of Annecy.
