One of the major ski resorts in Switzerland - Zermatt - in February will host an unusual race. Great Britain Ski Club organizes in Zermatt "Restaurant sprint" or "Restaurant piste" - ski race to the resort restaurants, situated at an altitude of more than 3 thousand meters.
This is a funny competition, which aim is not victory, but participation. The race has already acquired the status of a regular event in Zermatt, which draws on the slopes of the resort many British skiers. This year it will be held for the 35th time.
The start of the race this season is on February 9. It will begin at the entrance of the Pollux hotel.
The race lasts the whole day. And throughout the day teams compete not only in speed, but also in number of bars and restaurants, which they will be able to visit.
For participation in the race are invited teams consisting of two persons each. Not only tourists prefer to participate in it, but also seasonal workers, who come to Zermatt to earn money. Currently in Zermatt is under way collecting of applications for participation. Cost of participation is 35 francs for each team. In order to confirm their intention to participate in the race, the team must be registered in the Pollux the day before the race. Registration will take place from 18.30 to 19.30.
After the race, which promises to be a difficult test of endurance, in Pollux hotel will be held honoring of the winners. After the ceremony the organizers promise grand party at one of the best après-ski in Zermatt - Nelly's Bar.
