More and more Russians come to holiday in Austria

Demand for vacation in Austria among tourists from Russia continues to grow. Such a conclusion can be made by examining data published in late 2010 by the Austrian Agency for tourism marketing.

The agency has processed data from 11 provinces of Austria, including such traditional winter holiday destinations as Tyrol and Salzburg. According to the agency, within 11 months of 2010, the number of guests from Russia visited the resorts of Austria, was 273,000 people. In total tourists from Russia bought in apartments and hotels in Austria 1.1 million nights, reports austriantimes.at.

The figures given by the agency indicate that Russia is becoming one of the countries whose citizens are becoming increasingly important for the Austrian tourism. If we compare the above figures with the figures of 2009, then in 2010 you can see a sharp increase in demand for holidays in Austria among the Russians. Thus, the increase in the number of nights of Russian tourists in Austria for 11 months of 2010 is amounted to slightly more than 22% over the same period in 2009. The total number of tourists increased by 31.7%.

Russians in Austria - they are also distinguished by the structure of demand for local tourist services. According to the agency, more than half of Russian tourists prefer to book in Austria hotels of not lower than 4 stars.

Austria is traditionally popular among Russians. However, it is worth noting that among the wealthy tourists, this country has always remained on the second place in popularity after France. One possible reason for the increase of number of tourists from Russia can be informal orders of the Russian government. Some Russian media at the beginning of the crisis published information that the administrative apparatus of Russia was informally ordered by the Government to reduce spending, including holidays. As a result, many officials were forced to abandon the luxury of ski resorts in France in favor of more modest ski resort in Austria. Either way, this information has not been officially confirmed.
