Ski resorts in Austria are investing millions of euros annually in the development of its infrastructure. This year is no exception. 70 million euros were invested in the equipment of one of the largest ski resorts in Austria - Kitzbuel.
Today in Kitzbuel you can buy a ski pass that gives access to the ski slopes of such well-known resorts in Austria as Zaalbach - Hinterglemm, Kitzbuel, SkiVelt.Kitzbüheler Alpen AllStarCard. This ski pass allows you to use in total 1000 kilometers of ski slopes in these regions.
As for the updates, the ski resort of Kitzbuel promises to be the leader in Austria. At the resort this season almost simultaneously were launched two new lifts. One of them was named Maierl. It is a 1-seat gondola. The second lift - Ochsalm – is an 8-seat gondola.
Among the improvements is the creation of a special reservoir for snowmaking systems in Kirchberg. Here, landscape architects have developed a special design for sleigh track or as they call it toboggan.
Skivelt region also fell within the scope of investment interests in the Kitzbuel region. In Skivelt were created new snowmaking systems, as well as launched a new chairlift in the resort of Scheffau. The total amount of investment in Skivelt was 4.4 million euros.
St. Johann resort in Tirol was also involved. Here was created a new park for snowboarders and freestylers.
In Zaalbach was opened one of the longest cableways in Austria. It provided access to 200 kilometers of tracks. The new gondola will delight tourists with heated seats. In addition, about 10 million euros Zaalbach spent on building of a new fun-park.
New fun-parks were also developed in Alpbach, Zell am See, Kaprun, where operates Kitzbüheler Alpen AllStarCard ski passes.
Austrian ski resort of Bad Gastein spent about 45 million euros on improving and upgrading of the lift systems.
This season Austria expects one of the most successful ski seasons in the history of the country. Optimistic forecast is based on previous year's figures. Then, during the crisis in the global travel industry popularity of winter holidays in Austria grew for some extent. Now the crisis is gone the Austrians hope for more significant growth.
