This weekend will be opened the new season at two Swiss ski resorts located in the Valais canton - Verbier and Zinal. Zinal, which tracks are connected with Grimentz, will open its slopes for skiing on November 13, 2010, and the official start of the season is scheduled for November 18.
Verbier resort, which is a part of skiing area of four valleys, awaits visitors from Friday (November 12) to Sunday (November 14), and then on the next weekend. There will operate lifts that connect Le Châble, Verbier, Ruinettes and Lac des Vaux.
It also reported that on the night of November 11 at the Spanish ski resort of Formigal, located in the western part of the Pyrenees, fell about 60 cm of fresh snow. In the city itself, situated at an altitude of 1.500 meters above sea level, snow cover is about 30 cm.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic preparations for the new season are also in full swing. Canadian ski resort on Lake Louise, one of three resorts located in Banff National Park, launched some lifts on November 5. The snow cover at the time was 22 cm.
Another Canadian resort of Marmot Basin, which is located in the Jasper National Park, Alberta province, opened on November 11. It will be followed by Sun Peaks, scheduled to open on November 20, Whistler and Tremblant - November 25.
In early December to the already opened resorts will join Revelstoke (3 December), Big White and Fernie (4 December), Blue Mountain (5 December), as well as Panorama and Kicking Horse (10 December).
