Austrian ski resort opened a new sleigh track

Austrian ski resort opened a new sleigh track
Obergurgl introduced a new sleigh track for large and small

Obergurgl ski resort in the south-west of Austria at the end of 2009-2010 ski season has decided to please its guests with the opening of the new track. However, this track is not for skiing. Most of the tourists who come on holiday to Austria in the spring are couples with children. Knowing this, Obergurgl wanted to meet primarily the interests of children and opened one of the longest sleigh tracks in Austria.

The track for the sleighs has a length of 3km. It starts directly from the top of the ski lift station of Hochgurglbahn and goes down the slope to ski the terminal in the village of Pill.

The cost of one race on a new track is 5 euros per person. At the track apart from the usual sleighs are accessible night races. Every Monday and Tuesday riding on the Obergurgl track is available from 19.30 to 22.30. The cost of a night sleigh race is higher: for children under 16 years - 9 euros and for adults - 13 euros. For those who have purchased a subscription on the lifts, as well as for children under 8 years race is free. Also in Obergurgl on Mondays and Tuesdays is available night downhill, which begins at the Festkegl station and goes down to the center of Obergurgl.

Obergurgl is one of the most popular ski resorts in Austria, situated in the province of Tyrol, in the picturesque valley of Ötztal. The season in Obergurgl is one of the longest in Austria. It begins in mid-November and ends in early May. According to the morning of March 24, 2010 the level of snow in Obergurgl was 36cm in the valley and 140cm on the mountain slopes. The Obergurgl-Hochgurgl resort is equally good for professional skiers and beginners and for families with children. In the area of the resort there are in total 110 kilometers of trails, 35km of which are suitable for beginners, 55km are for the experienced amateurs and 20 kilometers of tracks for professionals.
