Representatives of Stubai Glacier ski area situated in Austria have announced that the resort is to stay open for boarders and skiers until at least July. It means that the lifts will be kept functioning and the slopes will be groomed.
At the moment skiing conditions on Stubai Glacier are the best available in Europe. More than 50 kilometers of pistes are still good for skiing and at least half of the lifts are ready for use. The funpark is also in good condition and can provide a new kicker line with two jumps, a big air roller and further fun-boxes available.
Stubai Glacier located at the head of the Stubai Valley is the largest ski area in the Innsbruck area and one of the most popular ski destinations in Europe functioning all year round. The Stubai valley can be reached only via a toll road, which helps it to remain comparatively unspoilt. In winter over 150 km of pistes good mostly beginner-intermediate skiers are available in this ski area.
Accomodation in the Stubai Valley can be only found in the local traditional Tirolean villages, but as the resort is rather close to Innsbruck there’s no problem to access it on your own or rented vehicle. There’s a car park down the slopes.
By the way, the highest mountain restaurant in Austria is situated there at 3,150m above sea level. If you are lucky enough and get there on a clear sunny day you can enjoy excellent view of alpine Italian landscapes.
