Switzerland is Working on Preventing Accidents on its Slopes

Switzerland is Working on Preventing Accidents on its Slopes

The skiers who spent this weekend in Switzerland in Zermatt were pleasantly surprised and got much pleasure. The speed at what the skiers were moving down was clocked by the special speed counters. The skiers who were able to guess at what speed approximately they were moving, were given special small presents.

Probably, many people will think it was a race but in fact the main aim was to entertain the skiers and decrease the number of accidents taking place in Switzerland. Such checks-up take place in Switzerland every year as Switzerland is considered to be not only the excellent place to spend one’s ski and snowboard holidays. It is also a place where there are many accidents on its slopes.

Unfortunately, in spite of the fact that the all necessary measures are always taken, the number of accidents hasn’t reduced. This is explained that nowadays more and more often the man-made snow is used. Such snow makes the surface harder and icier than the natural snow. Besides, the runs are used not only by skier – snowboarders also use them to practice their turns. Very often this can be very dangerous for both skiers and snowboarders.

To prevent the accidents in Swiss slopes one can find special advertisement that the skiers see when they ride up to the mountains on the chairlifts. There are special bars where the skiers can see the next words “After three months in a cast, your leg will be as thin as this bar." But this is not all, one should be cautious and attentive while skiing.
