New Russian ski resorts
(Skiing in Russia)
Ski season in Russia has not yet opened, but news about new projects is in abundance. Some Russian media reported on several large scale projects on building new ski resorts in Russia.
Caucasus is a region renowned by such ski resorts as Dombay and Krasnaya Polyana. Krasnaya Polyana is known as one of the places where, as planned, will be held competitions of the coming 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. It is known that for the preparation to the Olympic Games in Sochi are directed large-scale investments. However, the new draft of the Russian government on developing the ski resorts of the Caucasus promises to eclipse even the Olympic construction in Sochi.
According to the publication of Kommersant, for the creation of five new ski resorts in the Caucasus is planned to invest about $ 15 billion. Among these five resorts are Matlas in Dagestan, Mamison in North Ossetia, Arkhyz in Karachay-Cherkessia, Lago-Naki in Adygea, as well as the slopes of the Caucasus, its highest point Elbrus.
Project on creating a new ski resort provides for the development of tourism infrastructure, including construction of new highways and airports. As for ski holidays, here Kommersant writes about such figures: the total length of tracks will be 803 kilometers, for the reception of tourists will be created more than 104,000 places.
Monitoring of the project on construction of ski resorts in the Caucasus will be headed by "Resorts of the North Caucasus."
In addition to Caucasus, another big-budget project in Russia in ski sphere will be realized on the Lake Baikal. Here, in the special economic zone of Lake Baikal, is planned to create a ski resort "Bull Mountain". According to the publication of "Kommersant-Irkutsk", the volume of investment needed for the project is around $ 1 billion. Construction of the resort, as expected, will be held by the company Rusresorts, which is also known for tourism projects in Central Russia. In particular, it constructs multi-tourist center "Golden Ring" near the town of Pereslavl-Zalesskiy.
