The Leavenworth Winter Sports Club operates three facilities in the Leavenworth area. These include an alpine ski area with two rope tows, a magic carpet, a tubing hill and a sledding hill. A magic carpet is a short, belt-like transport system for uphill travel. The offerings are complemented by snowshoe and fatbike trails as well as 26 kilometers of Nordic trails. The three facilities combine various forms of winter sports: the alpine offerings include rope tows and a magic carpet, while Nordic trails, snowshoe trails and fatbike trails enable other ways of getting around. The tubing and sledding hills provide additional options alongside downhill skiing.

Nature along Icicle Creek and on the island trails

The Leavenworth National Fish Hatchery is located on Icicle Creek. Visitors can see the hatchery, adult fish holding ponds, a fish ladder, raceways and rearing ponds in the original buildings. The facility was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. Birdwatching is possible there year-round; the Birding Bench Trail is accessible from April through November. For a shorter nature walk, the Icicle Creek Nature Trail is available. The route is 1 mile long, mostly paved and equipped with interpretive signs and numerous benches. A float trip through Leavenworth can also be taken on the Wenatchee River. The entry point may be at Icicle Bridge, while Barn Beach or the East Leavenworth boat launch are named as possible exit points.

Townscape and cultural experiences

In the early 1960s, Leavenworth officials changed the appearance of the town to attract visitors. This historic transformation is part of understanding the townscape seen today. During Oktoberfest, traditional Bavarian melodies are played on the Gazebo Stage in Front Street Park. The Nutcracker Museum also offers a special setting for a visit: for scheduled group visits, a museum tour and a nutcracker hunt hosted by the Nutcracker Lady may be part of the program; this is not generally promised for individual visits.
