History and culture
The place name Savigny first appears in 1228 in the Cartulaire de Lausanne in the form Savinie. A decree of the canton of Vaud dated 17 May 1823 legally established Savigny as an independent municipality separate from Lutry. The deed of separation between Lutry and Savigny was signed on 22 March 1825.
Savigny participates in Carte cultissime; the programme gives young people aged 18 to 25 free access to culture.
